History of Our Chapter

Founded in September 2011, Active Minds at GMU is the George Mason University chapter of a national mental health advocacy nonprofit that aims to raise mental health awareness and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health issues. Our student organization empowers students to speak openly about mental health in order to educate others and encourage help-seeking behaviors. We are fortunate enough to have the ongoing support of Mason's Counseling and Psychological Services and often team up with MasonCARES and WAVES (Wellness, Alcohol, and Violence Education Services) for programs and events. We also have an active presence on the Campus Suicide Prevention and HEAL (Healthy Eating and Love) Your Body task forces.
